Nokia P1 Android Phone Review

Nokia is back from the death. The company behind pretty much everyone’s first mobile phone experience, the Finnish manufacturer has started making handsets again three years after it sold. its OK, so Nokia itself isn’t creating the new devices.
Third party manufacturer HMD Global is, but they bear the Nokia name and the Nokia P1 - or the Nokia 8 as it might officially be known - is set to be not just Nokia’s triumphant return to smartphone success.

It’s been out of the loop for a while, but fortunately Nokia has seemingly learnt a lot during its hiatus, ditching Windows Phone in favour of Android and, according to a mass of recent leaks, adding a fleet of high-end features. Ahead of the upcoming Nokia P1 release date, here’s everything you need to know about the phone that could just well shock the industry in 2017.

Release Date

Those holding out for the Nokia P1 release date, shouldn’t have long to wait. The phone is expected to be showcased at MWC 2017, with the Barcelona-based phone show to be held later this month.Despite MWC being scheduled to run between February 27 and March 2, we might actually see the Nokia P1 drop a few hours earlier.

That’s because Nokia and HMD have already announced plans to hold a dedicated press conference at 4:30pm CET (3:30pm GMT), on the Sunday preceding the show, February 26.Despite being lined up for an unveiling later this month, the Nokia P1 release date won’t see the phone hit retailers’ shelves until later in the year. Although an exact date has yet to be confirmed, we’d expect a late March, early April release to be on the cards.

Best Designe

Nokia’s always had something of a flare for design, some of it coveted like the iconic Nokia 3210, some of it a little more out there like the luminous yellow Nokia 1020 or the bizarrely shaped Nokia N-Gage.Based on latest leaks.
The Nokia P1 looks set to be a whole lot more traditional, with a large, metal bodied phone having been shown off with no unusual protrusions, angles or colours. Even when the rest of its phones were lacking in excitement and finesse, Nokia has always been the king of the camera.

Best Android Smartphone

What the phone looks set to have, however, is IP68 water and dust resistance. Keeping it on par with the likes of the Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7, this will mean the phone will be able to stand up to a spilt drink or accidental toilet trip without succumbing to a watery demise. In terms of size, the P1 has been tipped to rock a 5.3-inch display, with the screen finished in a hardened Gorilla Glass 5 coating.

What’s more, according to a leaked concept video, the Nokia P1 will come in a number of colour options, including black, silver and an iPhone-inspired rose gold option. All colour options will reportedly play host to a physical home button beneath the display, with the manual control to feature an integrated fingerprint scanner for improved, biometric-enhanced security.
According to early leaks, the Nokia P1 isn’t just shaping up as Nokia’s most specs-impressive phone to date, it’s a phone that could truly cut it with the big boy of the smartphone space. That’s because it will reportedly be powered by the same top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor that’s set to run the Galaxy S8.

Leaks have suggested this will be paired with a massive 6GB of RAM and the option of either 128GB or 258GB of internal storage - both lofty options capable of storing thousands of photos and videos.

The Nokia 1020, one of the firms last great phones, had the best smartphone camera going at the time and it looks like the brand is getting ready to pick up where it left off. That’s because the Nokia P1 looks set to play host to a new 22.6-megapixel primary, rear-mounted camera.
This will reportedly feature a Carl Zeiss-made lens for extra clarity as well as being enhanced by all the usual auto-focus, flash-enhanced, HDR and OIS skills.

Although it’s currently unclear what resolution the phone’s front-facing camera will host, you can also expect the P1 to adopt an impressive selfie snapper too. With the phone yet to be confirmed, the Nokia P1 price is still shrouded in mystery, with Nokia remaining tight lipped on the matter.
Given the phone’s lofty array of specs, however, don’t expect it to come cheap. Instead, early reports have claimed could be every more expensive than the iPhone 7. Ouch.
